[Just realized I can't play my recordings when I'm offline. This might be a bug with the latest update. If it can't be fixed, at least give the ability to export recordings.] ***** Browsing stations is easy, and it records my favorite program on a set schedule. I wish it could record more than one schedule, and I don't like the nag screens trying to get me to sign up for a paid service. I'm rating it a 5 anyway because it really works well. I tried many others. This is the best I've seen.

TuneIn was one of my very first apps and I have kept it for every phone and tablet I have. Great way to listen to radio stations and podcasts all over the world. There have been many changes over the years, not all to the good. I'll get the bad out of the way: the Pro version used to let you record shows to save and play later, but that functionality has been removed. Several reviews mention that previously recorded shows disappeared, which also unfortunately happened to me. I didn't have many but the ones I had were episodes that were meaningful and I wanted to save for relistening...now they're gone. The dev's canned response is that this is due to copyright laws, but I don't know why other apps allow recording if that's the case. Some people have also mentioned missing stations. This isn't something I've noticed, but I have no doubt it's a thing. I still have issues with the "new episodes" list. It consistently misses new episodes, even on podcasts I listen to regularly. It's extremely frustrating because the only way to check for new episodes is to go into each podcast feed manually, which takes a LOT of time. Not cool. Now for the good: there are probably thousands of stations and podcasts available. You can mark stations or podcasts as Favorites and they will show up on your list. So far I only have one podcast I listen to that isn't listed on here. It is the only app I have found that has multiple options for the sleep timer, most others let you set a single duration and if you want something different, you have to go into the settings. TuneIn gives you an entire list from 15 minutes to 2 hours, which you can choose for anything you're listening to. There is an alarm you can set to wake you to your fave station. Pro version will eliminate the in-app ads with the exception of the occasional ad for TuneIn Premium. (And yes, some stations and podcasts have their own ads, you have to deal with that.) The add design is pretty clean and easier for me to navigate than other apps I have looked into. There is a simplified car mode. If you use Waze for navigation, it can integrate with TuneIn so you can have the controls on the Waze screen. So overall, though I have looked into other podcast & radio apps, this remains the top choice for me, even with the changes. I'll be sticking with TuneIn at least for now.

Several years ago TuneIn Radio Pro was exactly what I sought. The name fit, it offered an easy and quick way to listen to my radio stations and programs when over the air reception was not reliable or available. Now that capability is nearly lost in the app's complication, and revised emphasis on podcasts. It no longer does what I want easily and it overloads my phone with unwanted podcasts if I try to save just one. Even if I try to stop it, it continues to fill my memory, slowing my phone.
