Mahjong 4 Friends allows you to play mahjong with your friends and/or bots! American, Chinese, Hong Kong, and British Mahjong are supported. Can't play your way? Send us an email! If you can't install Mahjong 4 Friends app, you can also play at https://mahjong4friends.com. Mahjong 4 Friends provides instructions in a bubble near the right hand side of the screen while in a game. If you want to learn more about rules and strategies, a comprehensive tutorial is linked to from the app. Summaries of rules are provided below: American Mahjong Rules (NMJL): - One right, across, left charleston round (0-3 tiles left) - If all 4 players agree, One left, across, right charleston round (0-3 tiles right) - One charleston pass across (0-3 tiles) - Mahjong when matching a combination on the card. - Jokers can only be used in matches of 3 or more tiles. - Any player can swap a matching tile for exposed jokers Chinese/British/Hong Kong Rules - 4 pongs/kongs and a pair are mahjong - Sequences can be used to replace a pong/kong - An optional charleston is provided - Mahjong and sequence limitations can be overridden (to help you play by your rules!) You can play with your friends on any American Mahjong card by selecting "Other Card" - scoring is supported on National Mahjongg League cards from 2020 to 2024, and Marvelous Mah Jongg cards from 2021 to 2024. Open the App 2. Create a Game Room (if you want to play alone, hit "Single Player", and skip to step 5) 3. Have Friends join Game Room 4. Fill remaining spots (if any) with bots. 5. I teach American and Chinese Mahjongg and I think this is a terrific way to practice and play. Tons of options with different cards and methods. It also gives suggestions for different hands which is incredibly helpful for those just learning. I've told my students about it and they love it. You can play by yourself against bots or create a room and invite friends. Highly recommended for those with at least a basic understanding of the game. And you can play offline if you're data conscious.

This is an update to my review of 4/7. The fix works great. Thanks for your quick response. My husband and I play vs 2 bots, and we really enjoy this app. We do question that the bots always seem to hold winds and dragons, even if they are dead tiles, while throwing terminals as fast as simples. Wish it would recognize the more exotic Chinese hands so you don't have to override the mahjong. But, overall, we greatly enjoy playing on this app. Probably the best one in the Playstore!

Great game that is fun and helpful for players of all levels. I recommend this to all my mah jonggers friends, especially newbies. You can play against 3 other bots but I don't see how you can play random people online or friends on the same device. Don't think that's possible. It's fun and addictive. I can play a lot of quick games in a short amount of time.
