So, you can do simple practices infinitely to help you learn hiragana (the "letters" of japanese), but if you want to progress through the "story" and get past simple interactions like saying hello and telling people you're a friend, you'll hit a paywall. You're also somewhat encouraged to do the story thoroughly with repeated practice by collecting coins, which you can redeem for little stickers. These stickers actually have value though, they tell you about interesting places in Japan.

messaged support and was greeted by an amazing developer that went above and beyond to expedite the issue and now it's working again!! old (It's neat so far but for some reason on my red magic pro 10 phone no matter what I say it doesn't pick it up. I've tried matching the words and when you reply it sounds the exact same but always says it's wrong. on other apps like Duolingo when I say the phrases it has no issues picking it up. Other than that I would give it a higher rating.)

What a fun and engaging learning app! Actually being able to have conversations in Japanese is helping me finally hit that next step in retention and thinking natively in the language. I've seen other reviews mention the paywall. I knew kana going in so I hit the moment fast. But I had so much fun that I signed up for the 7 day trial and from there subscribed. Great products aren't free to make. And this is a great product. The price is easily worth the admission. Give it a try!!!
